Miss World launches Beauty with a Purpose in Korea

Miss World and Mr World finalists in Seoul

Miss World Alexandria Mills was in Seoul to launch a new Beauty with a Purpose initiative in Korea. Joining Alexandria and Miss World Chairman Julia Morley were Miss World Africa Emma Wareus, Miss World 2nd Runner-Up Adriana Vasini of Venezuela, Mr World Kamal Ibrahim and Mr World 1st Runner-Up Josef Karas from Czech Republic.

Their Korean experience began with a visit to the Hyundai Department Store with the launch of a new drive on behalf of the Children’s Aid Foundation, with donations accepted from customers and special events due to take place to raise funds for underprivileged children.

A trip to Seoul National University Children’s Hospital was a moving experience for all the Miss World and Mr World representatives, when they spent time with children suffering from cancer, and met their families.

The visit culminated with a huge press conference and dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Seoul, with over 500 attendees. In speeches to the press, they spoke about the importance of Beauty with a Purpose, with Alexandria commenting on how it was the best part of her role as Miss World.

Adriana Vasini, who has graduated from medical school, said “Before coming to Miss World, my work with Beauty with a Purpose was about making lives better, and now, as a doctor, my professional life is about making lives better too. I love working with children, as every day I can take their smiles home with me. Now, coming to Korea, I can take home the smiles of the children from another country as well.”

The Miss World and Mr World representatives will now travel to Australia to attend the world renowned L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
